The smiley-shaped grille of older Peugeot cars might not look the greatest but it surely has proved its worth when it comes to saving dogs’ lives. It is unfathomable that for the second a time, a pup lived after being hit by a Peugeot 307 compact hatchback. The dog was allegedly hit at a speed of 90 km/h (56 mph) and yet was still able to walk away from this crash.

Wanting to spice up the launch of the X1 crossover in America, BMW releases the ‘Powder Ride’ edition, celebrating winter sports. Of course this is a publicity campaign partnered with K2 LTD Powder Ride skis, but the ironic thing is that everyone knows that the X1 is designed to work in the cities, making the car useless on rough terrain, especially snow and ice.

The first automotive recall of October comes from Honda, which is expanding from a previous safety action of around 52,000 model year 2007 and 2008 Acura TL vehicles to include 573,147 Accord V6s from 2003-2007 model years for a grand total of 625,762 cars.

As the 8-speed auto gearboxes that were meant only for premium car models are starting to be used in more affordable cars, it is clear that the premium models need an upgrade. The New York Times reports that General Motors and Ford are soon to announce their agreement to jointly develop new automatic transmissions that are specifically design to reduce fuel consumption as early as November.

This year was the start to a new campaign created by major car rental companies to prohibit the rental of recalled vehicle, hoping to establish a standard among all of the car rental firms. Major car rental companies have now agreed to back Senate legislation to pull vehicles from the road if they have been recalled for safety defects.

Hyundai announced at the Paris Auto Show that they will begin production of the ix35 Fuel Cellcrossover (also known as the Tucson) at their Ulsan plant located in South Korea. Hyundai’s projection is to produce 1,000 units by 2015 and are limited to a total production of 10,000 after that.

He notices that the conference room was jam packed with movie memorabilia and a Cannonball Run movie poster caught his attention.
