After expanding from the sports car market to the SUV and sedan market, Porsche has decided to branch out even further by creating a station wagon called the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. Not only is it a station wagon, but the Panamera Sport is also a hybrid.
With a 333-hp V6 engina mated to a 95-hp electric motor, the Panamera Sport gives twice the output of that found in the current Panamera and Cayenne hybrid models. The total system output is rated at 416-hp, and in this car being a hybrid, allows for an electric range of over 30 km (18.6 miles) at speeds of up to 130 km/h (80mph). According to Porsche, the fuel economy rating of this vehicle is 3.51/100 km or 67 MPG. The driver could choose to drive this car in the pure electric of hybrid mode by using the press of a button on the steering wheel.
Porsche claims that the Panamera Sport can go 0-60 time of less than 6.0 seconds. If there’s any surprise with this wagon, it is that it’s smaller than the current Panamera. Porsche believes that this car is a look at the future of how performance and efficiency can be combined.
