$200 Million Euro Investment Allows Ramped up Production for Smart Fortwo Electric Drive

In order to make room for Europe’s first series production electric vehicle, Daimler announced on Wednesday, December 12th that it is investing 200 million euros into the plant that currently build Smart Fortwo. Going on sale in the U.S. next spring, the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive will be priced at $25,000 before federal taxes. Considering the typically high price is one of the factors keeping many buyers away from going electric, Smart might have the right mixture on its hand for EV success.

The New Micromax Concept is Going to the Geneva Motor Show

For the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, which will open to the public in less than 3 months on March 7th, Rinspeed will introduce one of their new concept vehicles named the “microMAX”. The Swiss company claims that the boxy concept “sets out to revolutionize short-distance transport” and “intends to merge personal and public transportation in particularly clever fashion”.
