Trunk or Treating?

Some organizations or towns around the US sponsor a “Trunk or Treat” also known as Halloween tailgating, on Halloween night, or sometimes on Halloween day where trick or treating is done from car to car in a local parking lot instead of house to house. The trunk of one’s car is opened showing a display of decorations and candy. Concerned parents see trunk-or-treating as a safer alternative for their children, while other parents see it as an easier way to celebrate Halloween by not having to walk around the neighborhood with their kids.

Battery Maker A123 Systems Goes Bankrupt and Sells to Johnson Controls

On Tuesday October 16th, battery developer and manufacturer A123 Systems has voluntarily filed petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in Delaware. After using $129 million out of their total of $249 million of federal grants as a part of a stimulus bill, A123 Systems said that the petitions, which do not include its overseas subsidiaries, were made so that they can sell its automotive business assets to Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI).

Toyota Tundra Accomplishes Mission of Towing Space Shuttle

Toyota’s America born and bred Tundra pickup truck completes its mission as planned and towed the power Endeavour Space Shuttle to its final resting place, the California Science Center. The stock Tundra towed the shuttle across the Manchester Boulevard Bridge in a dignified, but sad fashion. The Tundra relied on its 4×4 system and each of its 380 horses to complete the 120 mile route without embarrassing the company in front of the whole country.

Sales Reach One Million Worldwide for Honda Hybrids

According to Honda, as of the end of September 2012, Honda’s worldwide hybrid sales have reached one million units. After 12 years and 11 months, Honda has finally reached this milestone, dating back to when the first generation Insight debuted in Japan back in November 1999. The 2000 Honda Insight was America’s first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle and cumulative sales of Honda hybrid vehicles in America has topped 318,000 units.
