A large parade of Ferrari cars and an even larger group of Ferrari fans gathered in the city of Guangzhou to mark the 20th anniversary of the brand in China. It was the closing event of 11 months of celebrations, of even which Ferrari chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, attended.
More than 250,000 people arrived at this event where some got to actually meet Mr. di Montezemolo, but all attendees witnessed a parade of over 130 Ferraris on the streets of Guangzhou. The car parade started at the local Ferrari showroom, and traveled as far as the Haixinsha stadium. Another highlight of this event was seeing the Canton Tower, the city’s main landmark, illuminated in red for this occasion. China is Ferrari’s second most important market along with Germany, with sales that have reached over 700 and with a 25-strong dealership network.
“It has been a marvelous day of celebrations,” commeneted Lucs di Montezemolo, “with many enthusiasts, a lot of young people and the city full of Ferrari flags. This has been the best demonstration yet of what the Prancing Horse represents in China – not just from a commercial point of view, but above all else for the Chinese people’s passion for Ferrari.”
