Sergio Marchionne, CEO and Chrysler Group Chairman is auctioning off his customized 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 where the proceeds will benefit the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
The sports car will be heading to Palm Beach, Florida on April 4-6, 2013 for the Barrett-Jackson auction and features Mopar’s latest HEMI 426 V8 crate engine. This one-of-a-kind Pitch Black Challenger SRT8 has a set of custom mixed “Dark Charcoal” racing stripes hand laid by the designers in the SRT brand design studio. In addition, the coupe has been lowered on Mopar adjustable coilovers and helping the 426 V8 breathe is a Mopar exhaust system. Compared to the factory 6.4-liter 392 V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, the power output of the crate motor is 540 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque.
Smoked taillights, 392 HEMI fender badges, and 20×9-inch matte black wheels are the aesthetic modifications that were included. Looking at the inside, the cabin sports custom-trimmed black leather seats with SRT and 392 logo embroidered on them. The instrument cluster features the SRT-exclusive Electronic Vehicle Information Center with performance pages that provide the driver with trip information, multimedia information, and instant feedback for 0-60 mph, 60-0 mph braking, 1/8th- and quarter-mile elapsed time in addition to various G-force measurements.
“It gives me great pleasure to thank Sergio Marchionne and Chrysler Group for their commitment to Detroit and its surrounding communities,” said Michael J. Brennan, President and CEO of United Way for Southeastern Michigan. “Through the generous support of those who open their hearts and wallets during the Barrett-Jackson auction, United Way can capitalize on the ability to accelerate the impact of its work in three interconnected areas: education, income, and basic needs.”
