Current Mercedes Diesel drivers beware, your car could be at risk. Mercedes-Benz has issued a fuel filter recall for many of its late model BlueTEC diesel vehicles. This is for a defect in the fuel filter that could lead to a leak. The leaking fuel filter could potentially leak diesel fuel on the road causing an accident or in some cases ignite from an ignition source and cause a fire.
This fuel filter recall is expected to begin in November at which time the cars will be brought into the service area for inspection. Any fuel filters that meet the recall will be replaced free of charge.
Mercedes has also put a stop-sale order on all diesel cars until their updated with a fix. If your in the market to buy one of these cars, make sure you ask if the recall has been performed or not before signing the paper work.
Affected vehicles include the Mercedes 2012 S-Class as well as the 2011 E-Class, ML-Class, R-Class, and GL-Class. Owners can call Mercedes-Benz at 800-367-6372 regarding questions or for more information.
