Middle East “Car of the Year” Awarded to McLaren 12C

McLaren 12C was rated ahead of almost 50 car models, winning votes of the regions top automotive experts across 17 categories, and named the 2012 Middle East Car of the year at the 2012 Middle East Motor Awards. Named the most prestigious automotive accolade in the region, the Middle East Motor Awards is decided by a jury panel comprising 17 journalists from nine countries.

The awards conclude a good sales year for McLaren in the Middle East. This car was launched in the region in November 2011, and since then had achieved sales of over 1,000 cars worldwide, and more than 11 in the Gulf countries. It is very important that high-end cars, like McLaren, are never affected by recession or banking crisis.

Saif Ak Midfa, Director General of Expo Center Sharjah, said at the award ceremony “The 12C is a clear winner for ‘Car of the Year’. McLaren’s debut model is a stunning car and worthy of making the ultimate wish list for any automotive fan.”

Also speaking at the awards ceremony, Mark Harrison, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa said: “To win ‘Best Supercar’ in the Middle East is an amazing achievement coming in our very first full year as a luxury sports car manufacturer. But to win the overall  ‘Car of the Year’ title is unbelievable.”
