Last year, Kia‘s Super Bowl commercial that featured Adriana Lima generated plenty of hype for the company. This year, in order to promote its Sorento model, Kia will be doing a complete 180 from its previous year’s commercial.
According to Kia, their Super Bowl commercial will answer the age old question of, “Where do babies come from?” The commercial will take the audience on a nine month journey in the making to introduce the family-friendly 2014 Kia Sorento along with the automaker’s next-generation UVO infotainment system.
Jake Scott, director of the commercial, created the 60-second “mini-movie” that’s set on the distant planet of “Babylandia.” Don’t feel like your the only one that thinks this concept sounds strange because it is. It’s a far cry from bringing fantasies to life, but judgment can’t be rendered until you see the entire clip.
“As the marketing event of the year, the Super Bowl is a high-profile platform that Kia has used very successfully in each of the last three years to launch new vehicles and raise consumer awareness and perception for the brand,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. “Every day is an adventure in parenting, and ‘Space Babies’ is an entertaining look at life’s challenges and the many ways the Sorento’s long list of technologies and amenities can make getting through the day just a little bit easier.”
