As of a few weeks ago, Jaguar released the new XF Sportsbrake, and to help promote this new model, Jaguar unveiled a speedboat concept to inspire buyers of the estate model as well as showcase the brand’s design DNA on a completely different product.
“We recognize that both our existing and future customers enjoy diverse and active lifestyles. With the launch of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, we had and opportunity to create a vision of how our design philosophy might be applied to an alternative product, in which speed and beauty are also priorities,” explained Jaguar Directory of Design, Ian Callum.
Jaguar consulted with yacht design specialist ‘Ivan Erdevicki Naval Architecture & Yacht Design’ and design project management company ‘Seventy Seven Design’ about their idea and proceeded with their plans to build the conceptual boat that had a length of 6.1 meters or 20 feet.
This stylish speedboat sports a get coat fiberglass hull finished on top with a natural teak decking, which is split by a carbon fiber fin, said to be inspired by the Jaguar D-Type. The fuel filler capes of the speedboat imitate those used on the Series 1 XJ.
Callum states “The Concept Speedboat looks powerful. It follows, in so many ways, the idea of a traditional speedboat but with the sleek and fast characteristics that you would expect from a Jaguar Car.”
